Jan. 28CANCELLED - to be rescheduled. Joy Bostic, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), will deliver the first of the Women's Empowerment Centennial Lecture Series, presented with Siegal Lifelong Learning, CWRU.

Mar. 26Angela Clark-Taylor, Director, Flora Stone Mather Center for Women, Case Western Reserve University, will deliver Women's Empowerment Centennial Lecture: "A Collector’s Tale: Memorabilia of the American Women’s Suffrage Movement."

Apr. 18 - Symposium at CWRU: “Women’s Suffrage Centennial Symposium: From Complex Legacy to Collective Action” 

Apr. 26 - “A Doll’s House, Part 2” - a Fundraiser for LWVGC at the Cleveland Play House. Nora is back and “blazing a path for women’s rights.” LWVGC will be a featured partner for this play. The play runs from April 25 to May 17. Special discount tickets for April 26 can be ordered here.

May 14 - CMSD Fair on Voting Rights for 10th grade history students.

May 20  - Heather McKee Hurwitz, Lecturer of Sociology, Case Western Reserve University, will deliver Women's Empowerment Centennial Lecture: "EDU@1UC: From The 19th Amendment To The Occupy Movement: 100 Years Of Women’s Social Movement Activism."

May 22 - WRHS exhibit: “Women and Politics” opens, covering the suffrage movement up to the ratification of the 19th amendment and the founding of the League of Women Voters. Grand opening reception is on May 22. Note that LWV Greater Cleveland members use WRHS member pricing; write “LWVGC” in the "Additional Information"  box on final checkout. 

May 29   ✩ 100th anniversary of the founding of the League of Women Voters of Cleveland – now League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland (LWVGC)

Aug. 19   ✩ 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment by the 36th state, Tennessee

Aug. 24 - Belle Sherwin Luncheon at the Cleveland History Center (WRHS).

Aug. 26   ✩ 100th anniversary of certification of the 19th Amendment, officially entering it into the United States Constitution

Oct. 15   - Ubbelohde Lecture (CWRU History Associates): Martha Jones, Johns Hopkins University. "Vanguard: African American Women and the Road from Suffrage to Voting Rights." Maltz Performing Arts Center, 1855 Ansel Rd. Cleveland. Time TBD.

Dec.   - LWVGC’s induction into WRHS’s 100 year club of the Western Reserve (date TBA).

Living history
Additionally, a one-woman suffragist “show” is being scheduled for libraries, schools, clubs, etc. throughout Cuyahoga County with a League member performing as Alice Paul, accompanied by an educational slide show. The full program runs about 30 minutes, but can be adapted for longer or shorter versions or to include discussion throughout.
