Huntington

The LWV of Huntington is an active and vibrant nonpartisan voluntary organization.

Our mission is to encourage and engage citizens into being active and educated participants in government. We never ever support a politician or party. However, if after a careful and thorough study of an issue, we do come to a consensus, we advocate and lobby for it as well as lobbying and advocating for the national and state league legislative positions.

Democracy is not a spectator sport and we in the LWV of Huntington are definitely not spectators. We do voter registration drives, sponsor candidate nights, engage students in programs at their schools, help register new citizens at naturalization ceremonies, visit our elected politicians, attend Huntington Town Board meetings, do programs on the environment, health care, government, etc.

Due to COVID-19 our in-person activities have been cancelled or postponed, but we continue to meet by phone and videoconference to plan outreach to our community about voter registration, education and information on the upcoming primaries and General Election.  Check out our calendar and Give us a call to get involved!

2020 SCHOOL VOTING

As required by Gov. Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.26 qualified voters in NYS will receive an absentee ballot to vote in their School Budget/School Board election via mail. The deadline for ballots to be received by the district is Tuesday June 9.

There will not be any in-person voting for school elections. If you are a qualified voter and have not yet received your ballot, or if you think your ballot may not arrive at the school district in time, call your school district office to see what you can do.

Newsday has developed an excellent 2020 school elections voters guide to help residents make an informed choice.
